Recent events have generated a lot of uproar in Salvadoran society, one of like the attack that took place against a caravan of the FMLN party.
Since we are close to the elections for the legislative assembly, many opinions, points of view, hypotheses and conclusions have arisen about this terrible attack.
First of all we have to understand that the majority of the Salvadoran people are in favor of the current government and president. We can back up these facts with physical and truthful evidence through the polls that have been conducted during 2020 and early 2021. Clearly when a country, especially El Salvador with a corrupt background, is in pre-electoral stage, a lot of bickering takes place to generate different controversial points of view in order to get more votes or to discredit the opposing party. Given the fact as previously mentioned that the majority of the Salvadoran people are in favor of the current government Nayib Bukele and the New Ideas party (based on the polls) this generates some fear, nervousness and above all lack of control of many public officials and political parties against the current government and Nayib Bukele.
Referring back to the sad event of violent attacks against the FMLN caravan, the government, the president, the PNC and the Attorney General’s Office have taken action to find the culprit of these illegal acts.
As with any sanction process after an illicit act, they start with the physical evidence, witnesses and more.
Nayib Bukele publicly emphasized that he was against all these illicit acts and also emphasized that they should be sanctioned without any exception. Both the National Police and the Attorney General’s Office presented evidence about this act, unfortunately both did not come to the same conclusion.
The National Police presented several videos showing that there was one version where the FMLN caravan attacked PPI personnel as evidence. On the other hand, the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic only shows 1 video which alludes that the Caravan of the FMLN was a direct victim, leaving aside the other substantial videos presented by the PNC to be able to process and reach a definitive conclusion about this event.
This is not the first time that we see illicit processes executed in an irregular manner.
The clearest and most recent example is that of Sifgrido de Reyes ex president of the legislative assembly who was convicted for illicit acts of corruption, illicit enrichment and money laundering. This act was presented directly by the attorney general’s office but curiously never had a final conclusion.
This case has evidence and sentences that do not reach a final resolution and the process has simply extend by putting exceptions leaving people who have been guilty with a certain freedom.
That said, we can notice some irregularities on the part of the FGR office since during the sanction processes they leave a lot of blank spaces, lacking or reliability.
Just like this case, leaving important evidence aside.
On the other hand, Nayib Bukele, his team and the PNC presented all the evidence that existed in order to reach a final conclusion. These actions only demonstrate that our president Nayib Bukele is a leader of transparency and above all of justice where he does not evade evidence, to process and sanction in the most transparent and fairway.
PRESIDENT BUKELE DENOUNCES THAT THE ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE DID NOT PRESENT ALL THE VIDEOS OF THE VIOLENT INCIDENT WHERE FMLN MILITANTS DIED.
The PNC published a video with details that the Attorney General’s Office omitted about last Sunday’s shooting.

This Wednesday night, February 3, the president of the Republic of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, through his official Twitter account, denounced the fact that the Attorney General’s Office will publish only one of the four videos that the National Civil Police (PNC) handed over to him, about last Sunday’s violence, where two sympathizers of the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN) were killed.
“Today the FGR only published 1 of them. Coincidentally the one that appears the FMLN caravan was only a victim, hiding that they shot and impacted the body of the PPI,” wrote Nayib Bukele.
On the other hand, this same night, the PNC published a video showing what happened last Sunday, starting at 17:54, on the 11th avenue note; the cameras captured the event and show that a blue Hyundai (where three men of the PPI were driving) and a white Kia truck (with FMLN militants), were fighting for the right of way.
According to the PNC, from the vehicle where the militants were being transported, one of them pulled out a firearm and fired, while those in the private car got out, and the truck began to back up without stopping firing.
“By hiding the other videos and only showing one of them, it would seem that the FGR seeks to misinform the population and hide that there were shots that came from both sides,” reads a tweet from the PNC.
“Why didn’t they show all of them? Who do they want to protect?” questioned President Bukele.
This day, the FGR filed the injunction against an agent of Protection of Important Personalities (PPI) assigned to the Ministry of Health (MINSAL), and against a motorist and a MINSAL security guard, for being implicated in the violent attack where two FMLN militants died.
The injunction requests the instruction with detention against Diego Francisco Alvarado Peña (member of the PPI); Roberto Carlos Coro de Pan (private security guard of MINSAL); and Héctor Jesús Castaneda (motorist), according to the head of the public prosecutor’s office in San Salvador, Santiago Hernández, who indicated that the act was an act of intolerance.
In addition, the Attorney General of the Republic, Raúl Melara, discarded that it was a direct attack against the political party, and reiterated that it was an act of intolerance.
“Our obligation is to calm all anxieties, to calm the bases of the different political parties so that this is a campaign of proposals and not violence. Events like this should not happen again in the country. It seems to be an act of intolerance. The two vehicles were arguing in the public road”, said Melara.
Both prosecutors point out that the investigation is still in progress, that there are still ballistic tests and analysis of the videos that must be carried out prior to a definition of the facts that occurred.

The President of the Republic Nayib Bukele questioned that the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) presented only one video of the 4 that were delivered and coincidentally published the one where FMLN militants are not seen shooting.
“The PNC handed over 4 videos to the FGR about Sunday’s shooting. But today, the FGR only published 1 of them. Coincidentally, it seems that the FMLN caravan was only one victim, hiding the fact that they also shot and hit the body of the PPI”, said the President.
The Head of State demands to the judicial system that all those involved must pay for the crime, however, the Prosecutor’s Office dropped the charges against the FMLN militants and left only the alleged aggressors in detention.
PRESIDENT, NAYIB BUKELE SAYS FGR HIDES EVIDENCE OF SHOOTING IN WHICH FMLN CARAVAN SHOT PPI AGENT

According to the President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, the Attorney General’s Office did not present the videos in which it could be observed that the FMLN caravan shot and hit the body of a police officer member of the Division of Protection of Important Personalities (PPI).
“The Police delivered 4 videos to the Prosecutor’s Office about Sunday’s shooting. But today, I am only publishing 1 of them,” stated Nayib Bukele.
“Coincidentally (he presented) the one that looks like the FMLN caravan was only a victim, hiding that they also shot and hit the body of the PPI” he added.
Regarding the incident in which two FMLN supporters were killed last Sunday, January 31, the investigations are still ongoing and there are still ballistic tests and video analysis that must be done before the authorities can define the facts.
In this sense, Nayib Bukele expects that all those who committed the crime will be punished.
